#13: Back...For Now.

is my long hiatus for 2011 over? possibly so.

but just so that i don't disappoint anybody.

and myself, in fact, i'm just gonna say...

i'm back... for now.

maybe till the end of the year?

maybe till forever?

who knows.

i'll take it by the day.

currently working on TWO projects.

firstly, a wedding video for a friend.

she's getting married next weekend.

(i'm doing this as a personal favour, of course)

here's some screen-shots of the video.

it looks and sounds good to me.

but i got to wait and hear what the bride-to-be has to say.

another project is a website.

which contains a micro-site.

and i'm really excited for this.

cause it'll be my first MAJOR project.

nothing concrete at the moment.

just the site layout and the formalities.

i think i have another project brewing in my brain.

got to revamp this Weblog cause it's kind of... dark.

we'll see how this goes.

it's been a looong while since i posted any of my freelance designs.
and that's because i haven't had a chance to do any!

of course, i'm given one design project after another at work.
and I'M LOVIN' IT!

although right now, i've some things to settle in my life.
some things which requires a lot of my time and energy.
so i will be taking another hiatus for a LOOONG time.

nonetheless, you can still request for designs.
and i will try my best to accomodate your requests.

if you happen to visit my Weblog, please do clean it up for me.
those cobwebs at the corner and the dust on the buttons.

this aches my heart to do it but...

AAAND I'M BACK!!!

it's been ages since i last did any blog designs.
and i must say, i really do miss it a bit.
who am i kidding? i missed it A LOT!

and i'm glad to say, i'm officially back.
will try to create a blog design a month.
key word here: try. REALLY try.

i've kept this in my to-do list for too long.
finally, i've got around to doing it.

can't say that i'm really happy with it.
and sadly, i might have lost my touch a little.
BUT. i will strive to be better.

Total Defence Day 2010

As Singaporeans, we celebrate Total Defence Day.
Well, mostly the school kids do. Not the adults.

So I'm working in a school and there was an event.

Police cars, Civil Defence motorbikes and whatnot.

They even had a booth to dedicate local music.

Plus a board to post pledges for the country.

And they had a blog to write in all the pledges.

Being the IT Girl, the blog design was assigned to me.

And this is what I came up with.

And now, a whole load of design things are coming my way.

Kuih Korner

Super psyched!

Actually, it was given to me late 2009.
But got caught up in so many other things.

(Which were equally, or more, important!)

And I finally got it then.

Decided to go really simple with the design.

And made use of the colourful treats.

'Kuih Korner' is translated as 'Cake Corner'.

So the website is about selling... cakes.

been wanting to change the look.
couldn't think of a really nice one.
and somehow, it just hit me.

took the picture of myself randomly.
didn't think that it will actually come in handy.
but it did. lucky me.

so here's my new website design.
i feel that it defines me better now.

as for my designs; i have some in mind.
just waiting for the time to do it.
and when i do, i'll update A-S-A-P.

spring cleaning is in order now that i'm back.
yes, i am finally back from my hiatus.
(reports, assignments, exams, etc. going on)

managed to design a weblog layout.
this was actually meant for a client.
but he/she never got back to me.

just for your information;
if you request a design, be sure about it.
but if you decide to cancel, tell me.
time is money, and i don't like to waste it.
no one does.

if you didn't inform me, too bad.
it will just end up being un-personalized.
and be made for public use.

so this is the second design for Betty Boop.

#10 - Hiatus 2008

the end of 2008 is nearing and i'm getting more requests.
if not requests, there are emails asking me about qoutes.
thank you thank you thank you all so much.

for the emails, for visiting this weblog and for even considering. =)

however, workload increases towards the end of the year.
what more, with the assignments of working-cum-schooling.
so i have decided to take a hiatus until the end of this year.

i won't be taking any requests during this period.
however, emails on qoutes are welcome!
to the current clients, i'm still just an email away.

just mind the cobwebs and dust collecting.

#9 - New Project!

it has been two months plus since the last update.
again, apologies apologies apologies. time constraint.

as i have mentioned in the last post, there is another project on the way.
but that project never came and i never got the call.
will check back again with that client and hope for an outcome.

however, i have another new project now.
again, i created the weblog design in a day, in a few hours.
and it was accepted right away by the client. thank god.
but it's not ready yet due to some complications.

i hope to have the website up and done before july.

had done a makeover for butbuds! Floral and Gifts.
thought the previous one was not so pleasing to the eye.
especially with the hot pink background.

so gave it a more flowery touch and simplicity.

#8 - Blog Tweaks

i've apologised time and time again for not updating.
being a working adult really puts a toll on your time.
finally, i have found the time to do something.
as you can see, i've renovated my weblog and gave it a new look.

wanted a more simple look and less black-er.
and here you are, simplicity at it's best.
or rather, my best.

and yes, i've added a touch of feminity with the flowers.

plus, do check my portfolio. have changed that too.
but as they say, "same same but different." hee.

am trying to do all that i can do before July arrives.
going to be a working adult who is studying from that month onwards.

so i'll be doing a renovation for butbuds! Floral and Gifts soon.

the first time that i took more than ONE day to complete.
and it was because i wanted it to be oh-so-perfect.
introducing my all-time favourite character; Ugly Betty.

sometimes when you love or idolise something so much...
that when you want to do a re-creation or something close...
it's so hard... cause you'd want it to be perfect...

i wouldn't say that this is perfect.
but it was way better than the initial try.
phew...

haven't been able to design anything ever since monday.
which is the day that i started my two weeks leave.
nonetheless, i did manage to do one thing.

a "Thank You!" collage designed for the people who wished me.

i realise that i have been neglecting my weblog.
but i have a totally good reason for it.
which is i have been busy with work... ALOT!
(you don't know what i work as, do you? haha!)

it's been 281639458676254 days since i last blogged.
and it has also been that long since i last designed.
however, i do have a little something-something i created.
took me around 5 days to finally make it.

"gasp! 5 days?!", you may say since i usually take hours.
but this is different, and very much more special.

it is a video montage that i have created from scratch.
the reason i took a long time was because, i was waiting.
waiting for the messages from my friends.

messages for what? it's video for two very special friends.
our twins, as you might say. yes, they are, in fact, twins.

and i finally have time to myself this week for my designs!
having a long weekend to myself after working so hard. hee.

anyways, i have always liked gwen stefani, no doubt about that.
and when she broke out on her own, i think she did better.
i've always admired her sense of style and fashion.
that is because i couldn't carry it off on my own body.

i had to do this all in Fireworks by the way, my Photoshop got corrupted

i had fallen in love with The Charmed Ones since it started.
or more like since the moment leo and piper fell in love.
or was it i fell in love with the idea of them being in love?
whatever it is, i just simply love The Charmed Ones.

and sometimes, loving something makes it all harder to design it.
cause you want to be perfect, nothing out of place, and look nice.
ah well, i guess i am pretty satisfied with this design.

the gold effect on The Charmed Ones for the golden look.
and just because they are just simply golden... to me.

as you can see, i have redesigned the layout of this weblog.
it is a similar concept to the previous one.

these are the few changes:
1. the fonts of the design plus the weblog
2. the entries have been centralised
3. there are stuffs in the 'portfolio' section
4. there is a tagboard now (yeay!)
5. it's more red-dish... which i LOVE.

have been busy due to working SIX DAYS A WEEK!!!

time does not allow me to catch up with my design ideas.
i have six designs in my list that i have been yearning to do.
finally, due to some personal reasons, i am able to.
expect the next design to be out anytime next week.

I have not been able to update because of my busy work schedule.
that leads to lesser time to using the computer.
that leads to unable to touch on any of my blogskins list designs.
and my priority for now is burn my dubai trip videos into cds.

however, how news-less that sounds, i do have one news to announce.
dear Singaporeans, have you seen the Ugly Betty Look-Alike Contest on Channel 5?
you have probably guessed it by now. i did join it.

i had uploaded it into my DeviantArt and it became an instant hit!
it was even featured as Giggle of the Day! by another deviant.
my Sky View was the most popular deviation in my gallery.
until... this recent deviation and it alone received 262 views (and counting!)

will be adding Ugly Betty to the list of my to-do-blogskins!
but it is kind of difficult to find good images of her.
look out for a blogskin coming your way soon! (not Betty though)

was having a designer's block and almost submitted an "EW!" design.

i have been planning to design a blogskin on her.
which is kind of weird cause i don't fancy her at all.
but hey, she is popular in more ways than one. i think.

i got comments saying that i was insulting religions.
just because of the words "gods are crazy" in the design.

in self-defence, i would like to say, don't sue me!
if you want to sue, go sue paris hilton and her record company.
and also, how about songs that have "God is a DJ", "God is a Joker", etc?
you think they are insulting religions too? i don't think so.

furthermore, i am a muslim girl and i believe in Allah.
so therefore, i don't agree with the lyrics too.
then why the hell did i create this? oh what the heck.

after much time and thought taken, it's back to basics.
not much of uber-fantastika design nor flashy mashy animation and roll-over stuffs.
vector art was a comtemplatively good idea but i would finish by june instead.
so i decided against delaying the website especially for those who have been waiting.
though i really really do wonder if anybody is waiting for the website to be done.

all the above mentioned, except the back to basics, will be considered.
the vector, flashy-mashy animations and uber-fantastika design.
(though i really have to upgrade myself to make it the best i've ever done.)
